Carol Jeanne Townsend, 79, of Clovis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2010. She struggled for many years with dementia but experienced victory and freedom early Monday morning. She was born on Aug. 19, 1930 to Marvin Claude and Ruth Morgan here in Clovis. On November 18, 1946, she married Glen Townsend. Their marriage was blessed by 43 years of devoted love and care for each other. He precedes her in death along with her parents and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her two children, Terry (Sandy) Townsend of Clovis and Kathy (Bill) Cunico of Raton. Grandchildren include Chrissy (Scott) Hatzenbeler of Gilbert, Ariz., Lisa (Shawn) Porter of Las Cruces, Casey Townsend of Oklahoma City and Melissa (Seth) Colson of Albuquerque along with 7 great grandchildren.

Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gospel music, reading, dancing, camping and time spent with family. She spent many years working at Johnnies Drive-In #2 and Dayhoff Shoes. Jeanne was a life-long member of First Baptist Church and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Steed-Todd Chapel with Dr. Joel Horne officiating.
