Collin Homer “C.H.” Lowrey passed away peacefully and with joy Friday, December 14, 2018 at 3pm, with his ladies at his bedside to see him off on the last leg of his journey. He was born in Portales, NM, the second of four siblings, on March 7, 1942.
His life was lived and defined by long hours and hard work. Homer enjoyed many professions while living a long life in Eastern New Mexico. He started his work while just a boy in the family dairy. After graduating from Portales High School in 1961, he was a cowboy on the Dunlap Ranch. While raising his family, he worked for Swift as a butcher. He spent many weekends working at Portales Livestock Auction or dryland farming and tending to livestock. He ended his career doing a job he took great pride in, propane gas plumbing and installation initially with Portales Propane (then Ray Bell Gas and Cortez Gas.) C.H. always dreamed of owning his own ranch which he eventually did near House, NM.
He lost his father, William Homer Lowery, as a child and was preceded in death by his mother, Robbie Lee Long Lowery Wicker. He is survived by his nurse daughters, Milissa Lowrey and Laura Lowrey-Rickman (Stephen Rickman), both of Clovis, NM; his wife of many decades, Joyce Park Lowrey; his grandchildren, Amber Lee, Zachary Rickman (Kasey Adams-Rickman) and Aaron Lee (Ally Lee) of Burnsville, MN; his brother, Mart Lowrey of San Diego, CA; and the lights of his life, his great-grand babies, Zoey Lowrey, Jameson Rickman, and Laurel and Olivia Rickman.
He was not afraid of death and knew his Jesus and his Mother were waiting. Rest in Peace PaPa!
