Abelino Chavez

November 14, 1961 — February 16, 2024

Mr. Abelino Chavez Jr. (Abe), of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away February 16, 2024, and is now resting in the arms of Jesus Christ. Abe was born to Abelino Salazar Chavez Sr. and Mary Louisa (Wisa) Garcia Urioste on November 14, 1961, in Roswell, New Mexico. He was a son, grandson, nephew, brother, uncle, cousin and good friend to many. Uncle Abe was known and liked by everyone he came in contact with. Abe was born with an illness that lasted throughout his life, but because he never once complained, many people didn't know about his illness. Abe had the heart of an angel, he was always helping the neighborhood kids, by providing them with jobs which he would pay them for, so that they could have spending money of their own. Everyone has things that they wouldn't normally do, as did Abe, but when it came to family, there wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for them, especially when it came to his brothers and cousins. He loved going camping by the river where he would go fishing and arrowhead hunting, after a long day by the river, he would feast on the fish he had caught earlier in the day. This is where he was most in-tuned with mother nature. Abe was a simple man who loved life and his family.

Abe worked all of his life pouring and finishing concrete, moving houses, worked as a ranch hand, and did commercial construction for 15 years with L.C.I.

Abelino was preceded in death by his parents, his life-long partner Lisa Zamora, brothers Andy and Ricky, sister-in-law Martha Barela, and his nephews Johnny Joe Lucero and Severo Chavez.

He is survived by his granddaughter Jackie, grandson's Jerry and Amos, daughter Stephanie and son Triny, brothers Pete (Grace), Pat (Diane), Dennis (Maria), Gabriel (Sarah), and numerous nieces/nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe on March 9, 2024 at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at a later date at the Rancho.

Abe is already missed and will continue to be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
