Alvaro Carrasco

February 19, 1931 — August 31, 2017

Alvaro "AL" Carrasco, age 86, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School. Al served in the U.S. Air Force from August 2, 1951 to August 1, 1955, in that time he received a medal for his service in the Korean War. After completion of his contract with the Air Force, he then worked as a Civil Service employee for forty-three years before retiring in 1996. Al became a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3015, which he gave his services for over 50 plus years. Al was a very active member during that time. He held many offices at the VFW, including Post Commander for post 3015, and Grand Master for the State of New Mexico with the Cooties. He also helped with bingo for many years at the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family, repairing clocks of all varieties, and dancing when the opportunity presented itself.
Al was preceded in death by his parents Vicente and Ramona Carrasco, his brother Lucio Carrasco, and his daughter Cynthia Carrasco-Parrott. He is survived by his wife Caroline Carrasco of Clovis, New Mexico, daughter Lauren Whitney Carrasco of Clovis, New Mexico, family friend and caregiver Latasha Berridge of Clovis, New Mexico, grandson Tucker Northcutt of Belview, New Mexico, brother Vicente "Jr" Carrasco of Ft. Worth, Texas, nephew Arthur Carrasco of Albuquerque, New Mexico, nephew Randy Carrasco of Ft. Worth, Texas, and many cousins in surrounding areas including Carlsbad.
A Rosary will be recited at 1:00pm and Mass of the Resurrection will follow immediately at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 108 N. Davis St., Clovis, New Mexico, on Saturday, September 9th, 2017. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories.
The Family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Dr. Rolando J. Lindo, MD, and the nurses that came in to check on him; Staci Huggins, Jill Graham, and Diane Davis.
