Arlye Galye Crooks

Arlye G. Crooks, 91, of Texico, NM, passed away on February 3, 2026 in Farwell, TX.

Viewing will be on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm MST at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 07, 2026 at 11:00 am at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Martin with Grady Baptist Church officiating and interment following at Texico Cemetery in Texico, NM.

Arlye was born in Estelline, TX to R.E. and Zonah Crooks on May 11, 1934. He primarily went to school in Texico, NM. Arlye married Margie (Reid) on June 21, 1952 in Clovis, NM.

Over the years, Arlye had many hobbies and passions, including attending and volunteering at sports events for all his kids and grandkids, taking care of his horses, jewelry-making and spending time with his lifelong friends. He worked as a pipefitter for the "water company" for over 40 years. Arlye was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He served on the Texico School Board for many years, as a member and as President. He was able to personally hand all his children their high school diplomas.

Arlye is preceded in death by his parents, R.E. and Zonah Crooks, his brothers Paul and Keith Crooks, His daughter-in-law Tonye (Harrington) Crooks, and grandchildren Taylor and Kendra Crooks.

He is survived by his wife, Margie (Reid) Crooks, children Gia Hardage (Gerald), Britt Crooks, Lisa Crooks Cortes, grandson, Chase Hardage (Brittany) and great-granddaughters, Arli and Presley Hardage.

Pallbearers will be Britt Crooks, Gerald Hardage, Chase Hardage, Kent Mitchell, Chuck Mitchell, Bill Autrey.
