Mrs. Bertha May Dorough, 85, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Carefree Living Facility in Albuquerque. Bertha was born May 2, 1919, in Gainesville, TX to J .C. and Fannie Stovall. brbrShe was married for 66 years to Gerald Dorough. After graduating from Plainview High School, she attended Wayland Baptist College for one year on a scholarship. She married Gerald in 1937 and began a family. When the children reached school age, she began her career. She worked for Clovis National Bank for 34 years, retiring as a vice president. During her banking career she was active in the National Assn. of Bank Women, serving one term as state president and two years on the National Board of Directors.brbrBertha has been an integral part of the Clovis community since 1947. She and her husband were involved in various civic and social activities. They relished their trips with the Good Sam Travel Club. Bertha enjoyed tending her garden and bidding a grand slam at her bridge clubs. They were longtime members of the First United Methodist Church.brbrShe was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Dorough, and her brothers, J .C. and William Stovall. Bertha is survived by her son, Jerry Phyllis Dorough, and daughter Judy Ron Mershon of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Jim Victoria Dorough, Richard Jackie Dorough, Denise Mike Olson, and Greg Marianne Mershon; and seven great-grandchildren.brbrServices will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February l2 in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Clovis. The Rev. R.G. Loy will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Curtis and Robert Norris; nephew Robert Stovall; and grandsons Jim and Richard Dorough and Greg Mershon. Interment will follow at the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.br
