Bill Newby

Bill Newby, of Grady, passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at St. Anthony Healthcare Center at the age of 81 years and 1 day. He was born in Clovis to Stella Bohannan Newby and Ed Newby on August 6, 1928. He was a farmerrancher and served in the U. S. Army for 2 years during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine of Tucumcari; a son, Douglas of Grady; a daughter, Eddie of Midland; a stepson, Nick Le Compte of Tucumcari; a stepdaughter Billy Legion of Dalhart; 8 grandchildren and a brother, Delbert Newby of Wasilla, Alaska. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces cousins, including caregivers, Stan Diane Owens and Gary Beverly Lockmiller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jewel a sister, Evelyn Lockmiller.

A scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.
