Billie Beryl Black, born November 15, 1930, in Brownfield, Texas, lived a life defined by devotion, adventure, and deep family bonds. She spent her childhood in Brownfield before moving to Clovis, New Mexico, for her senior year of high school. Billie graduated from Clovis High School in 1948, beginning a lifetime of cherished connections in the community she would return to again and again. On January 29, 1949, Billie married Joe Hamilton in Clovis. In 1952, Joe joined the U.S. Army, and the young couple spent two memorable years stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, from 1952 to 1954. After returning home, Joe began a 20-year career with Humble Oil Company on a Seismograph. Their life became one of constant travel, living in nearly every small town in South Texas in their travel trailer. Billie embraced the adventure with grace, humor, and resilience. Upon Joe's retirement, the couple returned to Clovis, where Joe farmed part-time and Billie worked as a desk clerk at the Roadway Inn, a role she enjoyed for the people it brought into her life. As they eased into retirement, Billie and Joe spent summers at the beloved family cabin in Eagle Nest, New Mexico, and winters in Clovis, creating decades of treasured memories in both places. Joe passed away on June 25, 2004, marking a profound turning point in Billie's life. In the years that followed, she and her sister-in-law, Barbara Black, became inseparable companions- traveling, visiting family, and sharing countless moments of laughter and companionship. On February 10, 2012, Billie married her longtime friend Stan Keeney, beginning a new chapter filled with comfort, companionship, and shared joy. Together, they divided their time between their two Eagle Nest cabins, Billie's home in Clovis, and Stan's home in Amarillo. Billie cherished the rhythm of these places and the people who filled them. Billie is survived by her spouse, Stan Keeney of Amarillo, Texas; nephew Jimmy Black and his wife Debbie of Muleshoe, Texas; and nephew Dr. Jerry Black and his wife Melinda of Loveland, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her father Beryl Black, mother Jewel Black, brother Byron Black, and her first husband Joe Hamilton. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, September 7, at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 8, at the Steed-Todd Chapel, followed by graveside services at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Billie's life was one of quiet strength, loyalty, and love. She will be remembered for her warm spirit, her adventurous heart, and the deep devotion she showed to family and friends throughout her 95 years
