Bobbie Johnson

March 1, 1946 — November 24, 2025

Bobbie Johnson was born on March 1, 1946, in Purdon, Texas, to Girlie Haynes Taylor and Willie T. Taylor. As one of sixteen children, her life was surrounded by deep family bonds and shared memories. Known for her kindness, humor, and hospitality, Bobbie enjoyed relaxing with cartoons or an old-school Western. She found joy in the simple moments. But...never one to back down, family stories include the time she jumped off the refrigerator to set Bob straight. She said what she meant and meant what she said. In her heyday, she could play a mean game of Bid Wiz while drinking a little, smoking a little, and cussing a little. Thank God for grace. She went from mixed Bacardi and Coke to super-sweet mixed two-flavor Kool-Aid, a joke she would laugh at herself while eating eight peppermints at the same time. She found her way back to Christ and became a devoted member of First Church of God in Christ, where she prayed and told of God's goodness. She deeply loved her church family and often bragged about her pastor, Robert Grimes Jr.

For more than fifty years, Bobbie worked as a cook, sharing her talent and heart with everyone who tasted her food. She spent forty-five of those years at the well-known Cook's Restaurant, beloved by coworkers and customers, working the night shift faithfully and never complaining. She had a gifted green thumb and could grow beauty out of anything she touched. Bobbie opened her home to family and friends for game nights, gatherings, and fellowship filled with laughter and good food.

Bobbie leaves to cherish her memory her children: Bob Johnson (Margert), Robert Johnson (Tammy), and Bridgett Chawawa (Alferd); her grandchildren: DaVionn Johnson, Darius Johnson, Shavionna Johnson, and Tabitha Phillips; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Opal Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers: Daniel, Ezekiel, Hosea, Leo, Oral, Tracy, and Willie Calvin Taylor; and six sisters: Artha Ree Byrd, Bertha Hamilton, Lillie O'Neal, Ozie May Taylor, Pearl O'Neal, and Vergie Bradley.

Bobbie's legacy is rooted in love, faith, resilience, and family, and her memory will continue through all who knew her. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, 11:00 AM, November 29, 2025, at First Church of God in Christ, located at 3400 Venton St, Clovis, NM 88101.
