Charles Herrington

Chuck Herrington, born March 24, 1948, passed from this life on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Logan, NM.

Chuck was born in Susanville, CA to J.W. Herrington and Virginia Meeks. As a young child, he and his family moved to Farwell, TX. After high school, Chuck joined the Army Reserves. After the birth of his first 2 sons, Chuck and Keith, he joined the United States Army full time. He served in the Army for 13 years, during which time his third and fourth sons, Jared and Jason, were born.
After leaving the Army, Chuck went to work for the United States Post Office, from which he retired from in 2007. After his retirement he made his permanent home in Logan, NM. For the past two years, he and his wife Kim have been traveling and panning for gold.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Kim Herrington, and his four sons, Chuck and Wendy Herrington of Portales, NM, Keith Herrington of Lubbock, TX, Jared and Jennifer Herrington of Portales, NM, and Jason and Shelly (Bethel) Herrington of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by his two step sons, Brandon and Rachel Schmitz and Ryan Schmitz of Belleville, WI.

He is survived by the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Alexa and Raul Perez, Averi Herrington, Emily Herrington, Danielle Chapman, Julian Herrington, Rebekah Herrington, Madyson Schmitz and great grandson Draven McAlister.

Chuck is also survived by his mother, Virginia Meeks of Clovis, NM and his siblings, Patsy Dilbeck of Logan, NM, John Herrington of Texico, NM, Velda Sapp of Clarksville, TN, Anna Powell of Clovis, NM and Travis Herrington of Salem, OH.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, but his niece, Sandra Jefferson and his great nephew, Joshua McCulloch, held a very special place in his heart.

Chuck was preceeded in death by his father and step mother, J.W. and Louise Herrington and by his granddaughter Crysta Herrington.

His favorite hobbies were panning for gold, fishing and hunting.

Chuck was an amazing man with a huge heart and a generous spirit. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation has taken place and a private ceremony has been held.
