Cindy Sue Porter Ford was born October 6, 1948 in Tucumcari, NM to Shirley Z Sutton and W.E. Porter. She grew up on the Porter family ranch in Quay County. Cindy attended school in San Jon and graduated from ENMU in 1971 with a Masters Degree in English. She taught middle school in Hobbs and then high school in San Jon. Her great joy was helping her students acquire a love of reading. Cindy finished her 27 year service in the public schools as a librarian in Tucumcari Junior High. Shortly after she took a job teaching in the English department at the Clovis branch of Waylon Baptist University and continued until her health declined in 2009.
Cindy was a hard worker and also a compassionate volunteer. She spent her free time serving in many capacities including the Tucumcari hospice, Hope Center, and especially San Jon Baptist Church where she was a member and pianist for many years.
Cindy is survived by her mother, Shirley Fourmentin, of Clovis, one sister, Debbie (Lee) Tillman of San Jon, a nephew, Jason Tillman, of Amarillo, and a neice Raina Tillman Hornaday, of Austin. Also, a great nephew, Nathan and a great Niece, Holly Quinn, as well as numerous cousins. And also her husband, Rance Ford.
Steed Todd is making the arrangements. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 18th at the San Jon Baptist Church at 10:30am: Michael Erwin and Sherman Martin will officiate. A graveside service will be held with extended family in May.
