Connie Adams Lavender Baldwin

Born August 11, 1942 in Clovis, NM to Hershel Wesley Adams and Margie Waldrop. She passed away April 1, 2018 in Lubbock, TX surrounded by family.

Connie grew up in the McAlister, NM area and attended school in McAlister, House and graduated from Melrose High School. She married Jim Lavender in 1962 and worked at Nortronics in California. Eventually they moved to Forrest, NM and ran the Forrest Co-Op and Jim's Farms Supply for many years.

Connie moved to Melrose in 1988 and taught art at the high school. In 1990 she married Don Baldwin. She also worked at Melrose Tire getting the restaurant and convenience store up and running. For several years after that Connie served as the Director of the Melrose Senior Center. Helping others is what gave Connie her greatest joy. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her dad, mom and sisters, Judy Mongeau and Sandy Adams. She leaves behind her daughter Sherri Fredrickson (Jim), her son Marty (Belinda) and nephew Victor W. Mongeau, her eight grandchildren Rachel (Weston), Christa, Alyssa, Sydney, Brent, Brooke, Baylee and Hannah and two great grandchildren Nolan and Baylee. Also many more friends she loved so much.

Connie always said not to give her flowers when she was gone, instead give them to someone who is alive or spend the money on someone who needs it. To honor her wishes, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, 2:30pm at the Melrose Old Gym in Melrose, NM.
