Evaristo "Tite" Garcia, age 77, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Clovis, New Mexico. Born on June 19, 1948, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Evaristo lived a vibrant and full life that touched the hearts of many.
Known affectionately as "Tite", Evaristo was a beloved presence in his community. He was often seen riding his bike around town, making spontaneous visits to friends and family just to share a moment or conversation. His warm spirit and outgoing nature made him a familiar and cherished figure to those who knew him.
Evaristo had a passion for simple joys-cutting hair, listening to music, and indulging in his favorite treats like tootsie rolls and bubble gum. He had an unmistakable way of speaking his mind with honesty and humor. Whether it was stopping by to play with his nieces and nephews or taking time to chat with great-nieces and great-nephews, he always made space for the people in his life. His days were filled with connection, laughter and love.
He is survived by his daughter Samantha (Jan) McWilliams of Austin, Texas; granddaughters Hannah Nivero, Mariah Nivero, and Margaux Monroe; grandsons Mateo Luis and Tye Elias (not yet born); sisters Ellen Ruiz and Patsy Garcia of Clovis, New Mexico, and Rebecca Lucero of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brothers Lupe (Rachel) Garcia of Lubbock, Texas, Melaquias Jr. (Margie) Garcia of Clovis, New Mexico.
Evaristo was preceded in death by his grandson Tye Blayed; parents Elosia and Melaquias Garcia; and brothers Frank Garcia, Roman Garcia, Raymond Garcia, Joe Garcia, Florencio "Lencho" Garcia, and Juan Garcia.
His legacy lives on through the countless memories shared by those who loved him. Evaristo lived each day with intention-bringing joy wherever he went-and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
A memorial service was held in Clovis, New Mexico. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held on February 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Steed-Todd Funeral Home. 800 E. Manana Blvd, Clovis, New Mexico 88101. Family will gather together at Eagles at 2815 W. 7th Street, Clovis, New Mexico 88101 for some food.
