A native of Colorado, Tom was born on February 19, 1971, the first child of Florence and George McCutchen. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1991 and soon after joined the United States Air Force.
Tom's first duty station was Holloman Air Force Base, where he served as a Radioman. Holloman is also where he met his wife of 30 years, Matilda. The two married in Japan at Kadena Air Base in 1995. During his time at Kadena, Tom was a member of the 353rd Special Operations Group.
Over the course of his military career, Tom was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, Kadena Air Base, Keesler Air Force Base, and Cannon Air Force Base, serving in technical communication and engineering roles. After retiring from the Air Force, Tom returned to Cannon Air Force Base as a civilian contractor, where he worked as a radio engineer and later as a network administrator supporting multiple critical mission sets.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed problem-solving and repairing anything he could get his hands on. His interests included cars, watches, computers, and electronics. He was constantly working on projects - whether for his own ambitions or to help friends and family.
