George Milburn

October 2, 1937 — April 13, 2017

On April 13, 2017 George Sparks Milburn, 79, of Clovis passed away at home from this life on earth to be with his Heavenly Father. He was surrounded by his loving family and Heavenly angels.

George was born on October 2, 1937 to A. E. and Polly Milburn in Clovis, N.M. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1955. He was employed by First Federal Savings and Loan Assoc. and First Savings Bank for 36 years where he worked as a loan officer. He also worked for Wal-Mart of Clovis for six years and retired in June, 1999.

George was a Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1959 at the age of 22. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Clovis. He loved his Sunday School class, Charlie's Angels.
George married Lynda King Baxter on Oct. 4, 1974. At that time, he became an "instant father" to two little girls, Charlotte and Janie! George loved his little girls, and they instantly loved him! He had the patience of Job, and he would sit with them individually on the back porch to discuss what was going on in their lives. He would also take them (individually) to McDonald's on Saturday morning just to spend some "one on one" time with them. This was their "special" time together. George was a devoted husband and father, and he loved to spend time with his wife, his girls, and later his grandchildren. He and his wife, Lynda, loved to travel, and he especially enjoyed spending time in Ruidoso where they had many friends.

In the year 2004 the Lord brought a very special family into the Milburn family and they became part of the Milburn clan-Vicki, Gary, and Cory Land. They have been such a blessing over the years, and Vicki has become a daughter to George and Lynda and a sister to Charlotte and Janie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Martha Allen.

George is survived by his wife, Lynda, of the home, his daughters and their husbands, Charlotte and Matthew Stadler and Janie and Kevin Simmons, of Arlington, TX, and Vicki Milburn Land and Gary Land, of Albuquerque, NM and his grandchildren Nathan Stadler, Austin and Claire Simmons, and Cory Land, his niece, Ann Jordan of Ruidoso, NM, and his nephew, Steven Foster, of Colorado Springs, CO.

Members of Charlie's Angels Sunday School class will be Honorary Pallbearers.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at Central Baptist Church on Monday, April 17th at 1:00 p.m. with Worship Pastor Damon Pearce officiating. The family will be in the foyer of the church after the service for visitation.

Contributions can be made to Hope Lodge of Lubbock, 3511 10th Street, Lubbock, TX 79415 in memory of George Milburn.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Interim Hospice staff Jena, Tonya and Pam for their compassion and care.

Steed-Todd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.steedtodd.com.
