He also has been an auctioneer since the beginning of World War II. He married Dorothy Loflin of Friona, Texas December 25, 1936. He has been a member of Ranchvale Baptist Church since 1941 sewing as a deacon, teacher Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He also served on the Ranchvale School Board for several years and has been a strong supporter of the Curry County United Way. He was also a charter member of the Curry County Farmers Union and served as the first president for eleven years. He has been Democrat Precinct Chairman for over 40 years and was quite a historian for this area.
