J. Slaughter

J.D. passed away peacefully, Friday December 11, 2009, at his home in Shallowater, Texas. He was born July 4, 1923 in Brownfield, Texas.

He married Dolly Ann Martin on November 22, 1941 in Portales, New Mexico. He was a Veteran, serving as a belly gunner on a B-29 in the Army Air Corps from 1941-1945. He was the toughest man in the state of Texas.

J.D. is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolly Ann; Daughter Diane of New Deal, Texas; Daughter Sharon and husband Larry of Moorestown, New Jersey; Son Rex Slaughter and wife Cyndi of Shallowater, Texas; Daughter Jann and husband Bob of Lubbock, Texas; Step-son Vernon of Burleson, Texas; 18 Grandchildren and 37 Great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, 1 son and 1 son-in-law.

Graveside services will be held at Mission Garden of Memories, Clovis, New Mexico on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Joe Reynolds.
