Jean Smith Klebold, passed from this earth on December 19,2023 to be with her Heavenly Father. Jean was born on September 6,1940 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Fred and Glenna (Dalmont) Smith. She graduated from Hobbs High School in 1958 and attended Eastern New Mexico University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education in 1963. She received her Master's Degree in Business Education in 1968 and continued her education to receive 45 hours above her Master's Degree in Vocational Education from Eastern New Mexico University.
Prior to starting her teaching career, Jean worked as a secretary to the Cannon Air Force Base Commander for a year. She started teaching at Clovis High School in 1964 for five years. She moved to Ft. Worth, Texas and taught at Green B. Trimble Technical High School for two years. She moved back to Clovis and taught at Yucca Jr. High in the business department for 29 years and then retired in 2000. After retiring, she also taught part time at New Visions for two years. During her teaching career, she was honored to be selected as "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" in 2000, 2004 and 2006.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 12 at Taylor Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was currently a member of 16th and Pile Church of Christ in Clovis, New Mexico.
She is survived by Buddy Klebold, nephew, Mike Smith, niece, Susan Vayes, Brandal and Brook Bosby of Happy Texas, Tishell (W.T's widow) of Amarillo, Texas, two great grandchildren, Klaos Klebold and Aria Klebold of Amarillo, Texas.
Special Thanks for those who care for Jean during her last years, Andrea Williams Pennell, who lovingly cared for her as a daughter, caregiver, Cecil Yandall, cousins, Amanda James and Jean James, and family friends Rob Pitcock and Diana Clifton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Waymond Smith of Clovis, son, Robert Klebold, grandson, W.T. Klebold, and great granddaughter, Kynlee Klebold
The celebration of life service will be held at Steed-Todd Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 12:00pm with Rob Pitcock officiating. Pallbearers are Don Clifton, Shane Pennell, Jay James, Brian Jones, Rob Pitcock and Sid Wisdom. Honorary Pallbearers are Ribble Holloman, and Chris Thomas.
