It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeanne Augenstein, who left this world peacefully on February 28, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 19, 1939, in Oakland, California, Jeanne was the cherished daughter of Elstun and Beth Campbell and was raised in the vibrant community of Denver, Colorado.
Jeanne's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and dedication. After marrying the love of her life, John Keith Augenstein, on September 23, 1962, in Pueblo, Colorado, their union blossomed into a family that would fill her heart with boundless joy. Jeanne was a proud mother to her four children-Dean John Augenstein, Sheri Augenstein Steele, Lori Augenstein Frazier, and Kelli Augenstein Carrington-and embraced the role of a devoted grandmother to five remarkable grandchildren: Melanie Augenstein Cokewell, Claire Carrington, Conor Carrington, Colin Carrington, and Timothy Frazier.
Jeanne's passions extended beyond her family. She was a master gardener who found solace and pleasure in nurturing the earth, a dedicated Girl Scout leader, and a beloved Boy Scout den mother. Her commitment to her community and family was further exemplified through her long-standing involvement with the SCA, where she created lasting bonds and sparked joy in those around her.
As we remember Jeanne, we celebrate a life filled with compassion, creativity, and connection. She was more than a homemaker; she was the heart of her family, embodying kindness, warmth, and a spirit of adventure that touched everyone she met.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Idledale, Colorado, where stories will be shared, memories cherished, and her remarkable spirit celebrated among family and friends.
In this time of reflection, let us carry forward the love and joy that Jeanne embraced in her life. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
