Jerry Carlton

Jerry D. Carlton, Sr., 76 of Clovis, NM passed away on June 29, 2023, in Clovis.

Viewing will be from 8:00-10:45 am on Wednesday July 5, 2023, at Westbrook Baptist. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am after the viewing. Pastor Furgus Tunnell officiating. The burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Steed Todd Funeral Home.

Jerry was born in Hereford, Tx to Aubrey & Elmina (Crow) Carlton on May 6, 1947. He attended school in Friona, TX. He married Liz Sinclair on June 20, 1970, in Friona, TX.

He loved Jesus Christ and showed his faith to everyone. He loved and enjoyed spending time with family. He was a member of Westbrook Baptist Church. Making and eating ice cream were at the top of his favorite things to do, he also enjoyed his dark chocolate and black licorice. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army. During his time of service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Metal and Marksman in Rifle. He was a truck driver for 45 years for various companies including Worley Mills, Booker, KAR, and a contract driver for the USPS. During his time as a truck driver, he received numerous honors and awards including miles driven. He finished his career as a night stocker at Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Elmina Carlton and one brother Aubrey (Sonny) Carlton.

He is survived by his wife Liz. Children: Jerry, Jr (Berna) Carlton, Lisa (Jerry) Nunez, Barry Carlton, Crystal (Darren) Lott, Rick (Morgan) Carlton. 11 Grandchildren: Chad (Lindsey), Brittny, Cole, and Caleb Carlton; C. and Derek Nunez; Amber (Cole) McLaughlin and Dustin Lott; Payton Mezzell, Eli Carlton and Kash Roberson. 2 Great grandchildren: Dawson and Kinslee McLaughlin. Siblings: Margie (Joe) Rexrode, Jessie (Sandra) Carlton, Walter (Renda) Carlton, Debbie Carlton, David Carlton, Donette (Rocky) Sabins and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Nunez, Darren Lott, Chad Carlton, Derek Nunez, Dustin Lott, Cole Carlton, Caleb Carlton, and Eli Carlton.
