Jim Don Jacobs, 78, of Clovis, NM has entered into heavenly peace on February 19, 2018. Jimmy Don was born on November 12, 1939 to Johnny and Lela Jacobs in Snyder, TX. He was the younger of two boys. His family moved to Clovis when he was a young boy. He married the love of his life Monene Mize in 1963, and together had three children: Shaun, Shana and LeEdna.
Jimmy Don was very active in community and state affairs. He was well known, liked, and respected. Jimmy was employed in the Clovis Public Schools system for twenty-eight years. Six years as a teacher and twenty-two years in administration. He was an elected delegate to the state of New Mexico Constitutional Convention, a member of the Clovis Charter Commission and elected City Commissioner for the city of Clovis. Jim was a Chairman on the Clovis High Plains Hospital Board, the Clovis Charter Revision Commission and a part time instructor for ENMU in computer information systems.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Lela Jacobs; his brother, Johnny Wilburn; his wife, Monene, and two of his children, Shaun and Shana.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, LeEdna and husband Andrew Bailey and their two children, Roper and Adisyn; his granddaughter, Ashleigh Jacobs and her four children, Taygan, Presliegh, Creed and Camden; grandson, Gunnar Jacobs and granddaughter, Sarah Jacobs
He will be truly be missed by many. Jimmy Don was a person with whom you enjoyed spending time with. Even though he suffered more than his share of tragedies during his life, he always had a big smile. His good humor and smile were contagious.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Steed Todd Funeral Home from 11:00am to 7:00pm. Services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, 10:30am, at First United Methodist Church with Jeb Archey, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Hollis Schultz, Al Jacobs, Gunnar Jacobs, Bruce Sorgen, JR Jacobs, and Don Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers the family requests for donations to be made to Clovis Kiwanis Club.
