Joe Urban, a beloved husband, compassionate friend, and devoted caretaker, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 6, 1931, Joe lived a life rich with kindness and a deep love for family, friends, and nature.
A proud veteran, Joe served as a Staff Sergeant (T) in the United States Air Force from June 27, 1951, until his discharge on June 29, 1955. His time in the service shaped his values, instilling in him the virtues of patience and selflessness that he demonstrated throughout his life.
After retiring from Presidio Air Force Base in 1994, Joe made his home in Clovis, New Mexico, where he could be closer to family. He spent his time as a driving instructor for senior citizens and served as president of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) in New Mexico, advocating for the rights and well being of many. He was a man of great warmth, integrity , and humor, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Joe cherished many moments surrounded by the beauty of nature. He had a profound love for travel, which took him to various places and allowed him to share his passion for exploring new horizons with those he cared about. A man of great intellect and curiosity, Joe was also an avid reader and was eager to support and guide anyone seeking knowledge and education.
Joe's warmth and reassuring words, "Don't fret," will echo in the hearts of all who knew him, reminding us of his unwavering compassion and the gentle spirit he shared with the world.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-three years, Agnes (Biag) Urban, who was his partner in life and adventure, 21 nieces and nephews whom he cherished as his own children, and many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends that had the honor and pleasure of being close to him.
Services for Joe will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Clovis, NM, beginning with a viewing at 10:00am followed by a Rosary at 10:30am and followed by a Mass at 11:00am. Father Sotero will be officiating. A cremation will follow the services and a burial will take place at Mission Gardens in Clovis, NM, at a later date.
In this time of mourning, we find comfort in knowing that Joe Urban's legacy of kindness, patience, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. He will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Elias Silva and Maria Urban, brothers; George Urban, Marcos Urban Sr, Albert Urban Sr, Sister; Emma, nephew; Marcos Urban Jr., Chris Urban, and Albert Urban Jr.
