Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 28, at Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel for Joel Clinton Farmer of Clovis, New Mexico.
Mr. Farmer, 63, died August 20, 2021 at his home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home.
Joel was born August 16, 1958, in Clovis, the son of Dr. Darrell Farmer and Nancy (Pate) Farmer. He is survived by his mother and two sisters, Vicky Bryant and her husband, Craig; Christy Barnett and her husband, Tommy; a daughter, Ashley Devine, and two grandchildren, Avery and Jude; as well as the love of his life, Jody Winders, and their shared family.
Joel grew up on a ranch outside Tucumcari, New Mexico, and graduated from high school there. He attended college at WT where he began his career in construction specializing in custom cabinetry. Joel was a contractor for over 40 years having achieved the highest level of licensing awarded to a contractor. Those closest to him describe him as a perfectionist who always made sure his finished projects were top notch. Joel worked construction projects all over New Mexico and Texas. However, his love for the ranch life was never lost to Joel and always near and dear to his heart.
In addition, Joel had a deep love for music that began in elementary school. He actually used to play the drums on his desk with his pencils, making lots of noise, gaining lots of "attention" from his teachers. However, that love of music led him to be a drummer for several bands over the years, including being a part of some worship teams.
He spent the last eight years of his life in Clovis with his beloved, Jody Winders, and they shared a beautiful life together. Joel treasured the family Jody brought to their union while having gained a daughter, Jennifer Jordon, and her husband, Wade; a son, Cory Winders, and his wife, Jennifer; a son, Cody Winders; and a daughter, Natalie McDaniel, and her husband, Rusty. The ten additional grandchildren were also a joy he cherished. Joel leaves behind many close friends as well. He truly enjoyed spending time with his buddies and, as it's told, was an avid story teller who will be deeply missed.
