At an early age the family moved to Arkansas. She had a lot of fond memories of living in Black Fork, AR. The family returned to NM and settled in Texico, NM where she attended school and graduated from Texico High School in 1945. She always had a blast going to the school re-unions every year. She looked forward to seeing old classmates.
On August 27, 1945, Laura married Burnnard H. Loflin in Fort Sumner, NM. They had a great honeymoon after they got married, they went for a hamburger and came back to Clovis and went to work. Mama and Daddy always had a big laugh about that. They had 51 years together until he passed in 1996. They raised two children Collene and Howard.
Her work history was quite varied. From working at the egg plant in the 50's, being a stay-at-home mom for a while, working for Borden Milk Distributors as their bookkeeper/office manager and retiring from F.W. Woolworth as the downtown store manager. Her most important work was her family and church.
She was a charter member and still active in the Clovis Church of God since it was founded in 1942. She taught a young adult Sunday school class. Moved into teaching senior adults, was the church clerk for more years than we know and was the pianist. She was a member of the Ladies Willing Workers Band. There was always work and she was always willing if it had to do with furthering the Kingdom of God. She wanted everyone to know her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was a 20-year member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha - Beta phi Chapter.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Burnnard Loflin, son, Howard Loflin, her parents, Isaac & Murtice Jaquess, brothers and sisters, Stella May, Irene Sechrest, Imogene Slaughter, K.P. Jaquess, George Loflin, Wesley Loflin, Edgar Loflin, and infant Paul Jaquess. Those surviving to cherish and honor her are her daughter, Collene Baldwin. Grandchildren, Lee Loflin, June Jeter, Laura White, Melanie Barnes and Jessica Loflin. Great Grandchildren, Tianna Loflin, Zach Loflin, Aurora Loflin, Zane Headlee, Zoey White, Christian Ruiz and Jared White. Six great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and one very special cousin, Carl Pratt.
