Loretta Hester

Loretta "Lodie" Hester, 87, of Melrose, NM, passed away on July 27, 2018 in Clovis, NM.

Lodie was born in Melrose, NM to Lee Franklin and Esther Beatrice Williams on December 22, 1930. She went to high school at Melrose schools where she enjoyed playing all sports. She married Ray Hester on June 5, 1948 in Melrose, NM where they lived together for 66 years. She retired from Melrose schools, as cafeteria manager, serving up meals with a smile to satisfied staff and students who loved her and her delicious food. She was the best cook you could ever imagine. Everyone looked forward to a batch of Lodie's cinnamon rolls. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Wednesday Morning Coffee Bowling League. She enjoyed woodworking and loved going to Bingo and she especially loved cheering for her Dallas Cowboys.

Lodie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Butch, brothers, Frankie, James and Kenny Williams, and sister, Hazel Cook.

Lodie is survived by sons, Mike and his wife Susie Hester of Granbury, TX, Charles and his wife Diana Hester of Houston, TX, one daughter, Dianna Hester and Sylvia Montano of El Paso, and daughter-in-law, Ruby Hester of Clovis, NM, seven Grandchildren, Sarah (John) Giacoman, Lara (Chad) Whidden, Rachelle (Martin) Barrera, Newlee (Sara) Hester, Matthew (Mikaela) Hester, Joshua Hester, and Missy (Shane) Seratt; eleven great-grandchildren Jack and Kate Giacoman, Grace and Anna Whidden, Kagan Baker, Kenley and Branson Hester, Destiny and Matthew Hester, Saylor and Tristan Seratt, twin sister Jodie and husband Pinky McDaniel of Roswell, NM, brother Denver Lee and wife Bernice Williams, sisters Beady and husband Jim Ross and Aleene Cromer all of Amarillo, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Melrose, NM on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Melrose Cemetery.
