Melba Ramos

March 1, 1942 — January 20, 2022

Mom, Grandma, Melba Ramos, passed away peacefully at Plains Regional Medical Hospital in Clovis, New Mexico on January 20th, 2022.

Mrs. Ramos was born and raised in Ft. Stockton, Texas, the daughter of Pablo and Calistra Valenzuela she eventually moved westward to Clovis, New Mexico in 1970 with her husband Sesario.

She was a loving Grandmother to Samantha, Andrea and Jeremy and a Great-Grandma to Kasey James and wife Samantha and Roman, Juliana, Ariana, and Issac and Jeremy.

Our mother was busy raising children, volunteering at the nursing home, gardening, sewing and quilting and chatting with her sisters and friends. Her and Sesario loved to travel, and to help other family members in Ft. Stockton. She was especially close to her sisters Tina Hagy, Adelina Zamarripa, Romelia Losoya, Ivy Villareal, Emma Warne and her brother Paul Valenzuela.

She spent 26 years with Ranchvale Elementary, from 1978 to 2004. She received her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Melba taught second grade for twenty-four years and Special Education for two years. Melba loved working with kids. She was a devoted colleague, friend, mentor and a master teacher. Although she retired from teaching, she and Sesario continued to work with children through the foster care program.

Mom was a sports and music enthusiast watching her grandchildren playing softball and other sports. She was a loyal Cowboys fan but her favorite player was Tom Brady. She taught her children her love of music, especially Big Band tunes. Kimberly continued the tradition of playing the saxophone during her school years and even used Mom's high school instrument. Jimmy Ray was an excellent athlete excelling in gymnastics and rodeo events.

Mom was a devoted Catholic who along with her husband faithfully attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mom was a strong, wise and loving person. She is the heart and soul of this family. Sesario has lost his best friend and wife of over 65 years.
