Obituary

Moses Jaime Acosta was born on October 16, 2004, to Moises and Susan Acosta in Albany, Oregon. The family moved to Logan, NM when Moses was 6 months old because his dad wanted to raise him on a ranch. Moses attended elementary school in Logan, NM, and transferred to Mosquero Municipal School his freshman year of high school as the first online "hybrid" student. He would drive to Mosquero two days a week to participate in media, shop and other social school activities.

In Mosquero, Moses became actively involved in FFA where he participated in numerous activities and Career Development Events. Throughout his high school career, Moses earned the Harding County FFA Chapter Farmer, Teamwork, Leadership and Effort awards. On the state level, he earned the coveted NM FFA State Star Farmer Award and the NM FFA State Proficiency Award in Beef Production in 2022. In 2023, Moses was a member of the New Mexico FFA State champion horse evaluation team. In 2024, he earned his American FFA Degree with an SAE in Beef Placement where he earned over $10,000. Beyond his accolades, Moses was well known for being the first member to volunteer and participate in any community service event.

Raised by a family with deep values, work ethic and integrity, Moses loved to work. At an early age, Moses shadowed his father working on the family ranch in Colorado and for the family windmill/well business. During middle school, Moses started working mowing lawns and as soon as he earned enough money, he purchased a pickup and started day-working on area ranches where he enjoyed gathering cattle,

branding and fall works. He would ask questions and want to learn whatever he could about an operation. Curiosity about the auction yard side of the beef industry led Moses to jobs at Five States Livestock Auction, Cattleman's Livestock Commission, Wildorado Cattle Company, and Lonestar Stockyards. While in high school, he started his own business, White Line Livestock Services, to serve the industry hauling, buying, selling, day working and hauling hay.

Moses graduated from Mosquero Municipal Schools in 2023 and followed his dream to enter the workforce. He began work for the Hunting Club in Socorro County, New Mexico, followed by a stint at Dexter Livestock Commission. Moses then landed his dream job as a Biological Science Technician for USDA APHIS Wildlife Services in Roswell, NM, where he managed predators in the area for local farmers and ranchers.

Although Moses had a passion for working hard, he loved his family and friends. Whether he was hunting, camping or hanging out at the lake swimming, fishing and boating, he really enjoyed hanging out with his family and the boys! He bragged on his brothers and sisters and never missed his younger brother, Harvey's, school functions.

Moses was preceded in death by his sister Jayline Jeppsen. He is survived by his parents Moises and Susan Acosta; brothers James Jeppsen, Harvey Jeppsen, Alan Jeppsen, Gilbert and wife Misty Jeppsen; sister Frances and husband Matt Barnett; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Moses loved unconditionally and worked passionately. Although he left all that loved him entirely too early in life, he will be remembered by the mark he made as a true cowboy with a great sense of humor, unmistakable grit, and forgiving heart. All that loved him know that Moses is on his horse headed west looking forward to the next adventure.
