Robert Witter

July 30, 1951 — May 22, 2024

Robert Witter, 72, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas.

Robert was born in Seattle, Washington on July 30, 1951. He enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1971. He did basic training at Ft. Ord, California and was stationed at Yuma Proving Grounds in Yuma, Arizona. He completed an assignment in Germany during his time in service. He was honorably discharged in 1972. After his discharge, he worked many jobs and was a jack of all trades.

Robert lived many places, but home was Beaufort, South Carolina where he was affectionately known as "Captain Bob" as he was always in a boat. He worked on shrimp boats, and was also a crabber. He loved a good male blue crab. He was an avid fisherman. He was usually the first to catch a fish and almost always caught the biggest as well as the most. He was known and loved by many.

He was a very giving person and would help anyone as best as he could. He never wanted anything in return. He moved to Clovis, New Mexico in 2014 to be with his daughter and grandchildren. He did not like being land locked and was quick to find sources of water to fish in. He was like a child at Christmas time when he would go fishing and never grew tired of talking about the subject. He was a lover of music and learned quickly to find what he loved on his smartphone that he did not like. He was also not a fan of the high winds in the desert. He was however, a man that loved many and was loved by many and will be missed. May he rest in eternal peace.

Robert is preceded in death by his father (Payne), mother (Betty), twin brother (Donald), and granddaughter (Brittany). Robert is survived by his daughter Ella Boyles (Micheal), Sister (Pamela Godwin), grandchildren (Micheal, Jr, Jordan, and Kira), great-grandsons (Revan and Jax), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Burial will take place at Texico Cemetery in Texico, New Mexico on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

Arrangements have been made with Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
