Roberto Lopez-Avila, 77, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away on April 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. In keeping with Roberto's wishes, his passing was private and discreet.
Roberto lived with strength, steady kindness, and a sense of humor that could lighten any room. He was a husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a loyal friend.
Born on January 17, 1949, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, Roberto was the son of Antonio Lopez and Maria de Los Angeles Vasquez. From his earliest days, he carried with him a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys that make a life well lived.
For more than 20 years, Roberto was a humble business owner who took pride in honest work and treating people right. He built his livelihood through perseverance and integrity, and he was respected for the way he showed up-dependable, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand.
Roberto's greatest joy was his family. He shared 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Maria Lopez, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Blanca Parker (James), Juan Lopez, Antonio Lopez (Selena), Maria Rubio (Alex), and Robert Lopez Jr. (Lina). Roberto was also a cherished grandfather to 24 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to 5 great- grandchildren.
Those who knew Roberto will remember his steady presence, his quick wit, and the warmth he brought to everyday moments. He had a gift for making people laugh and for showing up when it mattered most. His loyalty ran deep, and the love he gave-quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly-will live on in the family he nurtured and the friendships he treasured.
Roberto was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Lopez; his mother, Maria de Los Angeles Vasquez; his stepfather, Erasmo Vasquez; and his sister, Ofelia Gurule, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steed-Todd Funeral Home. In accordance with Roberto's wishes, there will be no public service. Cremation has taken place.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Juana Martinez and family for their support and care during this time. Roberto will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, and his legacy will continue in the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he leaves behind.
