Rose Portillo

Rose Marie Baca Portillo, age 52, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, March 10, 2018 from an extended illness. She was born in Tucumcari, NM on January 14, 1966 to Jose G. and Celia M. Sisneros Baca.
Rosie was raised in Tucumcari and graduated from Tucumcari High School with the Class of 1984. After graduation, she got married and moved to Amarillo, TX, where she raised her three children. While living in Amarillo, she worked as a motel housekeeper and a housewife. Rosie moved back to Tucumcari twenty-one years later. She enjoyed music and sang with the St. Anne's Church Choir. Most of all, she had love and faith for the Lord. She was loving and lived life to the fullest with family and friends. Rosie touched everyone's heart in many ways.
Rosie is preceded in death by her parents, Jose G. and Celia M. Baca; sisters, Grabella Rodriguez and Theresa Baca. She is survived by her fiancé, Edward Lopez of the home; sons, Enrique (Jessica) Portillo of Odessa, TX, and Nieves (Vanessa) Portillo of Amarillo, TX; daughter, Celia (Ted) Bennefield of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Albert (Vivian) Martinez; sisters, Christine (Pablo) Benavidez, Merlinda Sisneros, and Gloria (Lorenzo) Munguia; father of her children, Enrique Portillo of Juarez Mexico; grandchildren, Laila, Leah, Noah, Josiah, Sevien, AzaRiah, Ian, and Catalina; step-grandchildren, Jaylen, Alexia, and Jorian; goddaughter, Abby Chavez. Rosie will be remembered as a bright shining light.
A rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 15, 2018, 10:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow at 11:00am with Father John Paul officiating. Burial will be at the Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
The family will be gathering at the home of Rosie Portillo at 4042 Leonard Drive, North of Tucumcari on Highway 209.
