Scott G. Bailey, age 88, passed away on June 29, 2020 in Portales, NM.
Scott was born in Albuquerque on November 11, 1931 to James and Mabel Bailey. He attended Highland High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1964. He worked for Spartan Technologies and retired after 30 years.
Scott married Phyllis Wilson in 1955. They had four children and lived in several places throughout Scott’s Air Force career. After almost 19 years of marriage, Phyllis sadly passed away. In 1976, Scott married Susan Hughes. They raised their five children together in Albuquerque, and after their children were grown and Scott was retired, they moved to Roswell, where they lived for the next 20-plus years. While in Roswell, they did foster care for many years, leaving a loving impression on many lives. During that time, they adopted four more children. In 2017, they moved to Portales.
Scott will always be remembered for his kind heart, his friendliness, and his sense of humor. He could always make you smile and always made you feel at home. Scott never met a stranger and everyone who knew him, loved him.
Scott is preceded in death by his daughter, Starlene.
Scott is survived by his wife, Susan; and his children, Scott (Gilman) and wife Sherie; James and wife Margaret; Philip and wife Amy; Traci and husband Joe; Matthew; Brandon; Justin; and Mary Lucy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Marlene and husband Aaron; Ramon and wife Ranessa; Angelina; Stephanie; Terese; James; Ashleigh; Taylor; Emily; and Lila; as well as 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Scott will be held on July 12, 2020 at 2:00PM, at 1761 Miller Road in Portales, NM. Burial will take place at a later date.
