Stella Smith

Stella Murlene Smith, age 72, of Farwell, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Lubbock Heart Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on January 24, 1939 to Howard and Linnie Mae Donoho Crook in Clovis, New Mexico.

Stella was a Farwell resident all of her life, and loved to crochet. She worked for the Parmer County Sherriffs Office as a Dispatcher, and retired after 25 years. She was a member of Crime Stoppers and loved to work with them. Stella was also a member of Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church.

Stella is survived by one daughter, Shawn Smith, of the home one son, Truitt Linda Smith of Anchorage, Alaska three sisters, Eurith Marie Orville Dean Jones of Mesquite, Texas, Gari Lynn Worley of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and Jaquetta Walterschide of Carlsbad, New Mexico two brothers, Darrell Crook of Farwell, and Randy Robin Crook of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma three grandchildren, Justin Smith, Lindsey Gilbert, and Melinda Smith and two greatgrandchildren, Tristin and Gavin Gilbert.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. CDT, Friday, March 18, 2011 at Hamlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Farwell, Texas, with Rev. Keith Niehaus officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Terrace Cemetery in Farwell.
