Sunny Hays Bowers

Obituary

Sunny Hays Bowers arrived at Covenant Children's Hospital on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 6:03 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas. Her twin sister, Sloane Renee Bowers, followed just sixty seconds later at 6:04 p.m. Born at 25 weeks and 3 days, they entered our world far ahead of schedule, forever changing the course of our lives.

Sunny burst into our lives like a lightning bolt, divine in her sudden presence, only to leave as quickly as she came. But soon, complications arose. She battled for weeks with the help of tens of thousands of prayers from hundreds-if not thousands-of devoted prayer warriors.

Before her final surgery, Sunny was anointed and baptized, her soul fortified for eternity with her Heavenly Father. After, for the first time, we held our beautiful girl close, surrounded by family, as we wept. Through tears we whispered how precious and irreplaceable she was, how she would no longer experience pain or suffering, only boundless love. We told her we cherished her more than life itself, that she would never be forgotten, and that her memory would be honored, remembered, and held sacred for as long as we draw breath. Her mighty heart took its final beat at 4:41 am on Monday, October 13, while she lay peacefully in her momma's arms, covered by my hand.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that the Lord is near the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit, so He is undoubtedly holding us close and sharing in our grief. Sunny's light will burn forever and continue to brighten our world, serving as a reminder to live with the same unwavering grace, spirit, and tenacity. She will be eternally loved, visible in every sunrise and sunset, and felt whenever a warm ray of light touches our skin. Mom and Dad love you, Sunny girl, always and forever.

All are welcome to attend the Memorial Service which will be held at Hamlin Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 am CST, in Farwell, Texas at 324 5th Street.
