Our beloved brother and Uncle Bill passed away peacefully at his home in Clovis, New Mexico, on June 27th, 2025.
William (Bill) Lee Coryell was born on September 22nd, 1939, in Los Angeles, California. He was the second of four children born from the short marriage of Bernice Amber (Bates) Coryell and Lester Coryell. In 1948, Bernice and her 4 young children, Lynne, Bill, and twins Dawn and Dan, moved to Walla Walla, Washington. While there, Bill exceeded at baseball, earning a little league hall of fame award for pitching a no-hitter!
He graduated from WA HI in 1957. He later joined the Army and served for several years. He also attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. He found his career working for the railroad in New Mexico as a conductor.
Retiring in the late 90s, he enjoyed reading, thinking, learning, and traveling. Bill was intelligent, kind, funny, generous, and witty.
He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Daniel Patrick Coryell, in 1979, and his mother in 1994. He will be greatly missed by his oldest sister, Lynne Louise (Coryell) Gilman, and her adorable husband, Don Gilman. His younger sister, Dawn Eilene (Coryell) Romero, who passed away on July 11, 2025. Also several loving and kind nieces and nephews.
Thank you, brother and uncle Bill, for your friendship throughout the years, and we will always be inspired by your passionate sense of wonder.
