William Royce Miller

March 14, 1945 — May 15, 2026

William Royce Miller, 81, formerly of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 15th, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.

Bill was born on March 14th, 1945, in Bryan, Texas, to Royce F. Miller and Pearl M. Miller. In 1968, he married Sylvia Reid, and together they built a life centered on farming and family, welcoming their two children, Bryan Miller and Jody Miller, whom he loved dearly.

Later in life, Bill shared many happy years with his partner, Carla Ward, of Grain Valley, Missouri. Her unexpected passing in 2017 left a lasting mark on his heart. In his later years, he worked as a custom cabinetry builder, carrying those memories with him and pouring care and craftsmanship into the work of his hands.

Bill was a man of many talents who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved woodworking, fishing, visiting with friends, and playing his guitar. Those were the moments when he felt most at peace. Music and the outdoors were woven into who he was, and the people who knew and loved him will always remember that about him.

Bill is survived by his children, Bryan Miller and his wife, Dr. Katie Miller, of Lubbock, Texas, and Jody Miller of Clovis, New Mexico; and by his grandchildren, Jordon Broome (Lindsey), Chastin Miller (Roni), Dillon Ward, Hannah Keith (Rustin), Chance Miller (Taylor), Clay Neal, Rope Miller, and Chet Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Royce in 2011 and Pearl in 2007; his partner, Carla, in 2017; and his grandson, Landon Ward, in 1999.

Bill will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the quiet, steady presence he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed for the simple moments he shared, the love he gave in his own way, and the lasting memories he leaves with his family and friends.

The family is planning a memorial service at the West Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas, following its opening in July or August.
