Don was born January 9, 1940 in Clovis, New Mexico to Z A. and Aline McCasland. After spending his early years on the family farm west of Grady, he moved to Clovis where he graduated from high school in 1958. He married his life-long sweetheart, JeTonne Dunn on May 17, 1958. They then moved to Las Cruces where he received a degree in Animal Husbandry from New Mexico State University in 1962.

He loved his children and enjoyed being their Scout Master, little league basketball and football coach. Don especially liked taking his grandchildren to the ranch and teaching them various things about the outdoor life. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and served as a Bible teacher, deacon and an elder for 35 years.

Don loved every aspect of agriculture from wheat farming to feeding cattle. He owned a ranch outside of Richland Springs, Texas as well as the Wheeler Feed Yard. He had extensive involvement with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and was a past Chairman of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association.

Don enjoyed traveling with his wife, Miss Tonnie, as they went to various places attending their children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events while promoting his feed yard and mission efforts. Together, they served the LORD in the church by doing mission work around the world as well as locally. He was a generous man who was willing to help anyone in need. He supported missionaries, made numerous trips to Mexico where he assisted many people.

He gave his life in service to God, his family and to his fellow man. God blessed him in various ways and he used those blessings to be an encouragement to many. He impacted other people’s lives and made a lasting difference in this world.
