Aubrey Lynn Lansford, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021 at The BeeHive in Clovis, New Mexico. He was born in Boswell, Oklahoma to Thomas Emmitt Lansford and Mary Elizabeth Leatherwood.
His parents, three brothers (Woody, Lee and Joe) and a daughter, Carol Denise, predeceased him.
Lynn served during World War II as a German voice interceptor with the United States Army. He was part of the European invasionary force and occupation force in Germany after their surrender. Lynn also served in the Third Army under the command of General George S. Patton. After his honorable discharge from the army, he returned to Clovis where he helped take care of his parents and embarked on his vocational journey with AT&T.
He worked as a toll-test board operator for AT&T and subsequently Mountain Bell Telephone for 37 years. On many occasions, he assisted the personnel of ENMR in providing telephone service to rural New Mexico. While working at the telephone company, he met and married Roberta Elmore.
Lynn was a member of Kingswood Methodist Church and served on numerous committees. He delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Besides his wife Roberta, Lynn is survived by his two sons, Mark (Phyllis) and David (Debbie), both of Clovis, his grandchildren (Matthew, Micah, Marissa, Miles, and Joshua) and six great-grandchildren (Raegan, Reese, Graham, Aubrey, Ella, and Charlie), as well as nieces and nephews.
A memorial service has already been held with his family in attendance.
