Aunika Maes

Aunika Francine Maes, age 18, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Aunika was born on August 15, 2004, in Clovis, NM to parents Marie Pacheco and Joey Maes.

Aunika was known to many as “Muff” and she loved being referred to as such – this name was given to her by her mother as a child, for she was the Love Muffin who gave everyone tons of love! Aunika was known by her friends and family to be adventurous, spontaneous, playful, funny, smart, and loyal. Aunika loved softball, music, The Office, dogs, and all things beauty – nails, hair, skin, makeup and fashion. Aunika was set to graduate from the Cosmetology program at South Plains College in Levelland, TX on May 12, 2023. Her parents have accepted her diploma on her behalf. Aunika planned to work in the beauty industry while pursuing more education to become a teacher, as Aunika had an extreme love for children.

Aunika is survived by her mother, Marie Pacheco of Spring, TX; father, Joey (Toni) Maes of Amarillo, TX; brothers and sisters, Christian Maes, Krista Maes, Delicia Garcia, Angelica Rubio & Sophia Maes; a nephew, Christian Maes Jr.; grandmother, Yolanda Sanchez; aunts, Davida Pacheco & Frances (Adam) Rivera; uncles, David (Dedra) Pacheco, Rudy Apodaca, Paul Apodaca, Ronny Apodaca, Joel Reyes & Ernie (Joann) Moreno. And many beloved cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, David Pacheco; grandmother, Gloria Maes; great grandmothers, Esther Maes & Esther Gallegos; great grandfather, Joaquin Gallegos.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 2PM at Parkland Baptist Church in Clovis, NM. Adam Rivera, Adam Rivera Jr., Juan Garcia, Juan Garcia Jr., Anthony Garcia & Kenneth Chavez will serve as pallbearers. Burial to follow at Mission Garden of Memories. Services are by Steed Todd Funeral Home
