Betty (Owens) Trice

Betty Jo (Owens) Trice was born April 7, 1931, in Fairfield, Texas, to Jesse Burr Owens and Virgie Ila (Laningham) Owens, the first of five children and the only daughter. She passed peacefully on December 29, 2022, at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and stepped into her new eternal home prepared for her by her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.

Betty married the love of her life, Calvin R. Trice, on May 21, 1949. They were together for the next 51 years until his death on October 28, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers Gary, Bobby, Bill, and Jim Owens, her daughter Cheryl Kay (Trice) Wills, and her son Jeffrey David Trice. She is survived by her son Richard Calvin Trice and his wife Linda of Raton, New Mexico, son-in-law Robert Quentin Wills of Muleshoe, Texas, daughter-in-law Tamara Lynn (Downs) Trice of Lewisville, Texas, grandson Nathan Trice and wife Mindy of Peyton, Colorado, granddaughters Lauren Ratliff and husband Jay of Tijeras, New Mexico, Jillian Solano and husband Dreyson of Blair, Nebraska, Meghan Williamson and husband Matt of San Antonio, Texas, Caitlin Wills of Muleshoe, Texas, Rebekah Trice and fiancé Sam Wilcox of Stephenville, Texas, great grandchildren Callie Trice, Darek Trice, Jaylyn (Ratliff) Luksich and husband Austin, Brady Ratliff, Parker Ratliff, Jamie Ratliff, Allorah Solano, Roslyn Solano, Owen Williamson, Ryan Williamson, and great great granddaughters Amara Luksich and Harper Luksich. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Donald R. Trice of Jal, New Mexico, and sister-in-law Violet (McNew) Owens of Midland, Texas, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Betty Jo (Owens) Trice are under the direction of Steed Todd Funeral Home, Clovis, New Mexico, where visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 13, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Parkland Baptist Church, Clovis, New Mexico, at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 14, 2023, with interment immediately following at Lawn Haven Cemetery in Clovis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home, The American Cancer Society, or The American Heart Association.
