David Griffin

February 17, 1936 — January 5, 2021

Clovis, NM

David C. Griffin, 84, of Clovis, New Mexico, went to be with his Lord and Savior January 5, 2021. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the home of Virgil & Pauline Griffin.  He was raised on the family farm and learned to work at an early age “from sunup to sundown”.  David had an adventurous spirit and decided he wanted to see the world.  He joined the US Air Force at age 18, and met his beautiful bride, Ann Bridge, while stationed in England.  To this union were born two beautiful daughters, Caroline & Joanne. Together, Dave & Ann saw much of the world and made many friends.  He faithfully served his country for 28 years and was a proud Viet Nam War Veteran.  David retired in Clovis, New Mexico achieving the rank of SMSgt.  Then went on to work for McDonnell Douglas and moved his family to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  Dave and his family then returned to Clovis to finish out his career as a Civil Servant at Cannon Air Force Base.

David enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping, hunting, and fishing.   He loved animals of all kinds especially horses and dogs.  David was a truly kind Christian man and would gladly give you the shirt off of his back if he thought you needed it.  He knew no stranger and always had a joke to tell.

David is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann, of the home, their daughter, Joanne (Harlin) Stobb of Clovis, New Mexico.  He is also survived by his twin brother, Roger “Andy” Griffin and sister Mary (Herbert) Pierce both of Jonesboro, Arkansas as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Bella.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Caroline; two brothers: Jim Griffin and Mike Griffin; three sisters: Patsy Lucas, Martha Higgins, and Mae “Babe” Griffin.

Honorary pall bearers include: Harlin Stobb, Jim Williams, Oscar Sandoval, and Mike Urioste.  Interment will follow at a later date at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
