Ellis Houston Jones, age 86 born September 18, 1934 went home to be with Jesus on August 7, 2021
Funeral Services were held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis, New Mexico,
with Pastor Amy Jordan and Vance Dewbre delivering eulogy, Arrangements made by Steed Todd Funeral Home.
Ellis was born in Clovis, NM to Albert and Retha Jones and was the oldest of 3 children born to the Jones Family.
He attended school in Clovis and after graduating High School joined the Air Force Reserve and then transferred to the US Navy where he served a short stint on the USS Missouri as a part of his service.
Ellis then returned to his hometown of Clovis and began his 32 year career working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company, he and his wife Virginia then moved to Ft. Sumner and while he still worked for Mountain Bell, he also began his lifelong dream of farming. Ellis loved being on the Farm, and after retiring he and Virginia built quite the homestead, where they enjoyed their family time, their community and his beloved animals.
They resided in Ft. Sumner for 34 years at which point they moved back to Clovis to enjoy their retirement years and being close to family once again.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Retha Jones, his brother Cletis Mark Jones and his sister Leota Gail Jones Frazier; a daughter Kellie Lee Jones and a son Michael Houston Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Lee Jones and his children; Debbie Jones Marler and husband Don; Danny Jones and wife Dorinda; Shelia Hamilton; Tammy Alston; Jenny Alston; Denise Jones Schmaltz and husband Nick; and Lori Jones along with 20 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are his beloved grandsons: Chad Hamilton; Tyler Hamilton; Jeremiah Harriott; Tanner Alston; Colton Domm and Son-In-Law Nick Schmaltz.
