Floyd Davis

Mr. Floyd Whitt Davis of Clovis, New Mexico arrived at the gates of heaven on December 27, 2020.

Mr. Davis was born on September 7, 1924 in Jones County, Texas to the home of Elmer Ernest Davis and Willie Esther (Herron) Davis. Mr. Davis was one of eight children: four boys, and four girls.

Floyd graduated high school in Anson, Texas before joining the US Army and serving our country as a Sergeant in WWII and was a “hot-shot” baseball player. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Ruth “Toots” and together they began cattle trading and then ranching in Taiban, NM and later Clovis, NM. Toots and Floyd were quite the team as she drove the truck and he worked the cattle.

Mr. Davis was a loyal member of Central Baptist Church in Clovis, NM and was a forever fan of the Texas Rangers. Mr. Davis is remembered by family as being “always well dressed, funny, and having a sincere magnetic personality.”

Mr. Floyd Davis is preceded in death by wife; Ruth “Toots” Davis, parents; Elmer and Willie, brother; Vernon Davis, and two sisters; Juanita Ragan and Bonnie Kennedy.

Mr. Davis is survived by brothers; L.A. and Carl Don Davis, sisters; Dorothy Arnote and Geneva Malone.

Pallbearers for Mr. Davis include Rocky Marks, Justin Davis, Matt Stockstill, Dalton Davis, Conner Davis, and Rick Kennedy.

Honorary Pallbearers include Ron Garrett, Bob Norris, Buddy Bennett, Jack Don, Roy Snodgrass and "anyone who everyone shook his hand."

A graveside service will be held for Mr. Davis on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens at 2:00pm MST.

Services are in loving care by Steed Todd Funeral Home.
