Gwendolyn Allen

Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4 at Grady Baptist Church for Gwendolyn D. Allen of Grady, New Mexico.

Gwendolyn D. Allen, age 98 of Grady, NM passed away on May 30, 2021 in Clovis, New Mexico.

Visitation will be at Steed Todd Funeral Home Thursday, June 3 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  Pallbearers will be Delbert Sours, Jim Sours, Jerry Sours, Gary Malone, Tim Abel, Larry Powell, and Kelly Powell. Honorary casket bearers are James Sours, Jerry Powell, Neil Finley & Wesley Grau.

Gwen was born 11/22/22 to Forest Edward and Thelma Alleyene (Gamble) Durham in Crowell, TX.

Gwen was raised & attended school in the Fieldton, TX community. It was in high school that Gwen met DH Allen. After graduating high school they were married on Feb. 8, 1942 in Littlefield, TX. They were married for 71 years. After DH returned from WWII, the couple moved to Grady, N.M. Jan. 1, 1946. Together they farmed & ranched until their deaths. Gwen & DH had 1 son. David Edward Allen born 10/13/49, and passed away on 10/13/49

Gwen was a member of the Grady Baptist Church for over 70 years. Gwen also was a very active member of the Women's Grady Alpha Club. She always helped & prepared food for every church and club activity for the Grady Community.

Gwen is survived by her niece, Cindy (Neil) Finley of Lubbock, TX; her great niece, Heather (Tim) Abel; and her great great nephew Will Abel, all of Hale Center, TX.

Gwen is preceded in death by her parents, one son David Edward Allen, and her husband, DH Allen 2/26/13.

A special thanks goes out to all the caregivers who took care of Gwen during her last days on this earth.
