Janella Hill

August 25, 1979 — January 5, 2022

Janella Antoinette "most gracious gift from God" was born to parents Jim and Cleta Cook on August 25, 1979 in Shreveport, Louisiana.   She traveled to her final resting place on January 5, 2022.  Janella is predeceased by her Dad, Jim Cook; nephew Joseph Cook and former husband/friend Cameron Hill.  She is survived by her sons Ethan Hill of Nome, Alaska and Logan Hill of Clovis.  By her Mother Cleta Cook of Lubbock, her brother Robert Cook of Labelle, Florida.  Nieces: Destiny and Jazmyn Cook and nephew Ian Cook. Her grandmothers: Leta Sarten and Charlotte Cook, both of Lubbock.  She is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Janella graduated from North Pole High School.  She attended the University of Alaska – Fairbanks for a short time.  She completed her formal education through Wayland Baptist University obtaining a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Special Education.

Ethan and Logan were always the joy of her life.  Nothing brought a smile to her face faster than the opportunity to share stories of the boys’ antics.  As youngsters the boys always had a book nearby or in their hands, as Janella instilled in them the love of reading and the love of learning.  In recent years they traveled many places together, enriching their lives with various cultures, history, and the many wonders of God’s creation.  She was so very proud of her sons.  Proud of their accomplishments and prouder still of the fine young men they have become.

Janella’s teaching career started at Wichita Christian School where she taught preschool.  When she relocated, she took a position at Clovis Christian School where she taught 3rd Grade.  From there she moved on to Marshall Middle School where she taught Science and Math.  She was then asked to join the Math Team at Clovis High School where she felt she found her home.

Janella was truly blessed with the talent of teaching and found much joy in doing so.  She loved Math; teaching Statistics was her specialty.  She was loved by her students and she loved them back twice as much.  Her students called her the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time).  She always took a special interest in students who were struggling with family issues at home.  She took them under her wing; gave them a shoulder cry on and sometimes a sounding board to vent.

Memorial contributions may be made to the previously established educational fund for Ethan and Logan Hill at Citizens Bank, Clovis.

A Memorial Service will be held at 21st Street Church of Christ at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 with Scott Rektenwald officiating.
