Liberty Joan Beaulieu, 36, beloved daughter, sister & friend was called to her eternal resting place on May 21, 2021. She entered this world on September 13, 1984 in Clovis, New Mexico. Born to Craig and Karen Downey. Liberty grew up in the House / Melrose communities, graduating as Salutatorian from Melrose High School in 2003. Growing up Liberty enjoyed playing the piano, cheerleading and spending time with family. Having a deep thirst for knowledge, Liberty excelled academically. As a child, Liberty suffered from kidney disease, which inspired her to seek a profession in the medical field. Always having the desire to help others she moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 2007 where she attended Florida State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, top of the class, with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in 2011, and went on to complete her Master's of Science in Nursing & Doctorate of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthestist in 2020. Liberty will be remembered for her sharp wit and loving nature, which extended to her patients, a deep love for her friends and family and an unparalleled ambitious nature.
Liberty is survived by her father Craig Downey, mother Karen Pinnell Downey of the family home in McAlister, NM; siblings, Calvin (Lisa) Downey of McAlister, NM, Charity (Philip) Sena of Melrose, NM, Preston (Schuyler) Downey of McAlister,NM; grandmother, Nadine Downey of Clovis, NM, grandfather, Wayne Pinnell of Melrose, NM; 15 nieces and nephews; Justin, Delaney, Megan, Warren, Elizabeth, Kenneth Downey; Sterling (Landry), Tristan, Isabelle, Maxwell, Walter Sena; Deajha, Daisey, Shylynn Downey; A host of treasured Uncles, Aunts & cousins; and lifelong friend Jason Beaulieu. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Joan Pinnell and paternal grandfather Harry Lee Downey. A memorial will be held at the Melrose Baptist Church, Wednesday June 2, 2021 at 2:00pm. Internment to follow at Browning Cemetary in Quay County, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Liberty's name to the American Diabetes Association, Children's Diabetes Foundation.
