Ms. Linda Lee (McPherson) Williams has now received her heavenly crown. Linda passed from this earth on February 10, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas. Linda was born on October 9, 1955 in Perry Iowa to parents Merle Ross McPherson and Nancy Fae (Lee) McPherson. In Linda’s early years she was raised in Perry Iowa, and in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from Lincoln high school, Linda joined the United States Airforce as one of the very first women in aircraft maintenance as a crew chief. She was stationed in a multitude of bases including Korat Royal AB, Thailand, Clark AFB, Philippines, and then Cannon AFB in Clovis, NM before being honorably discharged at Reese AFB in Lubbock, Texas. Linda married John “Jack” Kenneth Williams during her service days, and they resided in many places such as: Philadelphia, Des Moines, Augusta GA, and then finally in Clovis, New Mexico. They created a life in Clovis together until divorcing in the early 2000s but continued a close friendship. Linda earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from ENMU in December of 1988 and then worked as a dedicated child advocate for the state of New Mexico district court system.
Linda Williams is preceded in death by parents, Merle Ross McPherson, and Nancy Fae Lee McPherson as well as a brother, Robert. She is also preceded in death by uncles; “Dub” McPherson, Paul Lee, William C. Lee, Robert G. Lee, and Francis “Carl” Lee. She is preceded in death by one cousin: Shari Kilmer.
Linda Williams is survived by former spouse and friend; John “Jack” Williams, cousins; Clinton Lee, Darrin Lee, Stuart Lee, Barbara Merryman, Pat Santella, David Lee, Steven Lee, and Mark McPherson. She is also survived by second cousin; Derek Lee who will forever consider Linda one of his “Moms”.
Linda will be placed to rest in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa next to her mother and father, by family, at a later date.
