Margaret Edwards

February 9, 1929 — December 21, 2020

Clovis, New Mexico

Margaret Joan Edwards, of Clovis, died at shortly after midnight, December 21, 2020, in the Surgical Unit at Plains Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Joan-- who pronounced her name "Jo-Anne" -- was born February 9, 1929, in Amarillo TX. Her Father, John E. McMillin, was an engineer for the Santa Fe railroad. Her Mother, Margaret Anne Hague (Taylor) McMillin was a homemaker. She was the sister of the late Kelly Kendrick McMillin, the late John Edgar McMillin, and the late Jean Harris.
Married in Childress Texas in 1947, Joan moved to Clovis New Mexico with husband Glenn and her first son in 1952. After many years as a devoted Mother and homemaker as well as a manager of a daycare center, Joan returned to school at Eastern New Mexico University in 1969 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1973.
For the next twenty five years, she was a Special Education teacher and diagnostician for Texico Municipal Schools. After retiring in 2001, she joined the Ladies' Auxiliary (the "Pink Ladies") at Plains Regional Medical Center before finally retiring completely in 2011. Raised in both the Catholic and Methodist traditions, she became a Baptist after marriage and was a longterm member of Parkland Baptist Church and a former member of Central Baptist Church.
Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rev. Glenn J. Edwards and her cherished son, Rev. David Darnell Edwards of Georgetown, TX. She is survived by her son James of Clovis, son Taylor (Allison) of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Lyndy Edwards of Georgetown, Lyndy and David's five children: Katherine Mullaney (Brian), Emily Ha (David), Evan, Mason, Molly; and four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Dax, Jeremiah, and Drew.

Her Grandchildren, now grown, recall playing with her many dogs throughout the years.

She loved fiercely and was unapologetically loyal to her family and loved ones. While her surviving relatives grieve and miss her, they know she is no longer in pain, and is receiving the celebration we all long for.

The world is richer for Joan having been in it, and poorer for her having left it. May she rejoice in the company of her husband Glenn and son David to rest in the arms of the Lord forever.
