Obituary

Otis F. (Skip) Bryan, Jr., 86, of Colleyville, Texas, departed from this life on August 29, 2021, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family.  Skip was born on March 10, 1935, in Kansas City, MO to Otis F. and Helen Lenore Bryan.  He attended many schools graduating from high school in Merriam, Kansas. Skip received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1959.  Continuing his education through courses at the University of Nevada, University of Maryland and University of New Mexico, he earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago.

Following graduation from MIT, Skip joined the United States Air Force, where he served 24 years and retired in 1983 as a Colonel.  Skip was posted to locales including Alcoy, Spain; Alamogordo, New Mexico; and The Pentagon, in Washington, DC, and additionally lived in San Pedro, California and Skokie, Illinois while attending graduate school.

In 1963, while serving in Alcoy, Spain, Skip met Glenna Ruth Davis.  Upon his assignment to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, Skip wed Glenna in August 1964 in Farwell, TX.  Skip and Glenna had three children, Sean Bryan, Paul Bryan, and Deirdre Salmon, for whom he served as a soccer coach, soccer referee, craftsman of Boy Scout equipment, and builder of televisions.  Following his retirement from active duty in 1983, Skip worked at CACI and JADE and, after becoming a Certified Financial Planner, at Charles Schwab.  Upon finally retiring from the work force, Skip and Glenna volunteered for Lets Start Talking. They travelled to Moscow, Russia, Beijing and Qingdao, China, and Concepcion, Chile to teach English while reading the Bible and took three grandchildren on the last mission to do the same.  Skip was very active in church work and served as a deacon, elder, Bible class teacher, home Bible study leader, and photographer. Skip greatly enjoyed traveling the world.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Glenna, Skip is survived by his children Sean, Paul, and Deirdre, and his eight grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Relief Fund.

A private service will be held by Mr. Bryans family at a later date.
