William Shumpert Iii

August 3, 1952 — October 22, 2021

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, 2 Timothy 4:7

William Irven Shumpert III of Clovis, NM peacefully passed into eternity to be with Jesus on October 22. He was born in Camden, Arkansas on August 3, 1952 to the late William and Louis Shumpert. He attended Fairview High School in Camden and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served in the Air Force for twenty years and upon retirement entered into Federal service where his career spanned the entire world for twenty years. He retired from Federal Service and resided in Clovis, NM.

The high point of William’s life was when during a watch night service at the World of Pentecost Church in Pinebluff, Akansas on December 31, 1994 during a foot washing service he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave him the utterance (Acts 2:4). What happened to him that night, would forever affect all of his tomorrows. He was later baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins (Acts 2:38). His life became totally dedicated to Jesus. He was called into the ministry and became an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. His ministry impacted souls internationally, as well as, America wide. He pastored the First United Pentecostal Church of Portales in Portales, New Mexico. He was a lover of God, Pastor, bible study teacher, prayer warrior and contender for the faith (Jude 3). His passion was to reach souls with the gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing the truth of being born again according to the bible (John 3:1-8, Acts 2:38). William believed in the absolute inerrancy and authority of God's Word in every aspect of life and set a godly Christian example. William lived for what mattered. William lived for eternity and is now more alive than any of us.

He is survived by the love of his life Un Ja Shumpert.
